Virat Kohli crosses 100 million mark on social media
India cricket team captain Virat Kohli became the most followed cricketer on social media as he surpassed 100 million social media followers on Saturday.
Kohli has 29.4 million followers on Twiitter, 37.1 million on Facebook and 33.6 million on Instagram, making him India's most followed sportsperson on social media.
Here's how he compares to the most popular sportspersons in the world.
Cristiano Ronaldo is the most followed sportsperson on social media with around 366 million followers - 122m on Facebook, 77.8 on Twitter and 166m on Instagram. Fellow-great Lionel Messi doesn't have a Twitter handle but has 119m followers on Instagram and 89m on Facebook.
Neymar Jr. is the second most popular sportsperson on Twitter with 43 million followers.
LeBron James is a close third, with 42.7 million Twitter followers. The NBA star has got 23 million followers on Facebook and 49.1 million on Instagram.
One would expect Sachin Tendulkar to be the most popular sportsperson in India, but Kohli who's chasing his numbers on the field, had got past Sachin's social media numbers a while ago.
Sachin has 28 million followers on Facebook, 29 million followers on Facebook and 14.7 million on Instagram.
