Requests to release the innocent!
All religious and civil society groups have requested the government to release all those arrested subsequent to the Easter Sunday terror attacks and are found to be innocent and to expedite the investigations against those suspected of having an involvement.
The Deputy Secretary of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha said many persons who had no involvement in the Easter Sunday attacks have been arrested and urged that they be released. This is a request of all four religious leaders.
The religious leaders attention has also been focussed on the inconvenience to the public due to the investigations.
“We urge that these investigations be carried out without hindering the daily religious practices. We appeal to the security officers to carry out their investigations in a peaceful manner,”Ven. Madampagama Assaji Thera told media.
It is the common view of all religious and civil society collectives that a set of common laws applicable to all religions should be formulated by a consensus reached through dialogue.
The Deputy Secretary of the Sri Lanka Amarapura Maha Sangha Sabha Madampagama Assaji Thera highlighted the need for religious leaders to organise regionally in order to prevent such destructive incidents in the future.
