Parliamentary Select Committee live proceedings suspended!

The President had objected to the live telecast of the Parliamentary Select Committee proceedings to investigate the Easter Sunday bombings and stopped it from being telecast live.

While the live telecast of the proceedings by Sri Lanka Telecom Peo TV was in progress, the President had called the Speaker and ordered that it be stopped immediately as it would have an impact on national security.

Subsequently, the live telecast was stopped.

Although a request was made by parliament to resume live telecast, Peo Tv had not done so.

The Select Committee had met on May 29th and former National Intelligence Head DIG Sisira Mendis and Defence Secretary Shantha Kottegoda gave evidence before the Committee.

The Select Committee is scheduled to meet again on June 04th.
