Azath Sally to be removed?

President Maithripala Sirisena is ready to remove a controversial Governor from his post immediately, Lakbima had reported citing political sources.

It is said that most probably it would be the Western Province Governor Azath Sally.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the SLFP- MPs had also appealed to the President to remove Eastern Province Governor A.L.M. Hizbulla.

The President is said to be taking steps to remove these Governors due to their support for extremist Islam activities and the country rejecting their behaviours.

It is reported that in the event the two Governors are removed, the President is most likely to remove Minister Rishad Bathiudeen as well.
