Asad Ali is being lifted from the governor's office

President Maithripala Sirisena is ready to remove one of the two controversial two governors, citing the Sinhala media, Lakbima's political circles.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party MPs have requested the President to remove the Governor of the Eastern Province Hisbullah from the post.

The President said that steps will be taken to eliminate these governors who are associated with hard-line Islamic extremists.

Minister Rishad Bathiudeen will be removed from office if the two governors are removed from the presidency.
