President as Chief of Security should apologise

Minister Palani Digambaram says President Maithripala Sirisena should apologise to the public as the Chief of Security over the Easter Sunday attacks.
The Minister speaking in Hatton said the President cannot shy away from this responsibility.
Minister Palani Digambaram said he will not help anyone promoting terrorism and if anyone is found to be doing so, they must be dealt with, and stressed the government cannot avoid this.
The Minister said that ordinary citizens know who is at fault and was humored by leaders who say they were not informed and who pointed fingers at the people who were aware adding that our leaders must own up to their mistakes and ask for forgiveness from the countries people.
The Minister accused the president of being directly responsible as the Minister in-charge of the Police and pointed out that the government can’t get away by imprisoning the small man since the President is answerable to flaws in national security.
Minister Palani Digambaram was dismayed that the country's leader said he was not informed of an imminent attack and added if he acted accordingly, more than 300 people would be alive today.
The Minister concluded by requesting the President to own up to his mistakes.
