Poson will be celebrated similar to Vesak

Minister of Buddhist Religious Affairs Gamini Jayawickrama Perera has requested the public to focus on Prathipaththi Pooja during Poson Poya.

The Minister said the public can travel to sacred grounds in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa without any fear.

Minister Gamini Jayawickrama says they have decided, just as we celebrated Vesak poya, to celebrate Poson Poya with no external activities.

The Minister called for Poson celebrations to comprise of the youth of temples together with benefactors, observing sil and participating in Dhamma talks throughout the day as this helped the country blossom.

As precautionary measures the Minister said, dansal will be organized within temples and also reassured that people can visit Anuradhapura on pilgrimage without any fear

The Minister said pilgrimages and dansal will continue as usual within temples but external activities such as pandols on Poson Poya will not be allowed, claiming that abiding by the country's principles, the Ministry will honour the request made by Buddhist monks.
