Elections Commissioner counting youth!

With the Electoral Register Revision List sent to households, a mechanism has been implemented to conduct a count of youth between 15-18 years.
However, there are various opinions being expressed regarding this initiative by the Elections Commissioner.
According to the Elections Commission Director General Saman Sri Ratnayake, as the revision of the electoral register is being carried out in February, this program is being carried out for ease of including them in the electoral register later.
He noted that information would be gathered and a separate list is being prepared to include the details of those completing 18 years every four months.
Accordingly, the names of those completing 18 would be added onto the electoral register enabling those who reach the age of 18 to vote.
