Viewer attention more on Malinga than the country’s victory!
The Sri Lankan team has been losing matches at a stretch much to the disgruntlement of the Sri Lankan cricket fans. However, rather than be focussed on Sri Lanka winning today’s match against Afghanistan, greater attention is being focussed on Lasith Malinga reaching his milestone in wicket taking, according to Face Book posts.
Lasith Malinga is set to enter the list of the world’s highest wicket takers in today’s match against Afghanistan. Currently he is in 7th place in world Cup rankings having taken 43 wickets in 22 innings.
Those in fifth and sixth place are two former Indian fast bowlers Zaheer Khan and Javagal Srinath with 44 wickets each.
If Malinga bags two wickets at today’s match he could progress to fifth place with 45 wickets.
Leading the bowlers list is Australian fast-medium pace bowler Glenn McGrath with 71 wickets to his credit in 39 innings, followed by Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan in second place with 68 wickets in 39 innings.
Pakistan’s Wasim Akram is in third place with 55 wickets in 36 innings.
Another Sri Lankan fast bowler Chaminda Wass is in fourth place with 49 wickets in 31 innings.
