1st complaint lodged against MP Bathiudeen

The Police Headquarters says the first complaint was lodged before the three member committee appointed to record complaints against Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen and former Governors Azath Salley and MLAM Hizbullah.

The complaint was lodged by a civilian against Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen.The Police Media Unit said the content of the complaint cannot be revealed.

The Police Headquarters yesterday set up a committee to obtain complaints against Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen and Former Governor’s MLAM Hizbullah and Azath Salley.

The Committee consists of a Senior Superintendent of Police and two Superintendents’ of Police have been appointed to the committee.

Police Media Spokesman Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara when contacted by NewsRadio said complaints can be lodged against the trio till the 12th of June.

The Police Headquarters also noted that the complaints can be submitted only in writing between 8am and 4pm.

President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday accepted the letters of resignation of Azath Salley and MLAM Hizbullah from their respective posts as Governors of the Western and the Eastern Province.

MP Rishad Bathiudeen was among the group of Muslim Ministers who resigned from all Ministerial portfolios on Monday.
