Gang of 4 held for robbing jewellery shop employee of 840 gm gold
The police arrested a four-member gang, including a woman, for robbing a jewellery shop owner of 840 grams gold worth Rs 16 lakh the day before.
According to media reports, the employee who was working in a jewellery shop was travelling with the gold on his two wheeler on Tuesday. A man on a motorcycle rammed the victim’s vehicle at Ramar Koil street. Meanwhile, two others on another two wheeler snatched the ornaments bag and fled.
The whole incident was recorded on a CCTV camera, said a report. The footage helped the police nab Raja, who had allegedly rammed the victim’s two-wheeler. After interrogation, the officials arrested Badrinath, a former employee of the jewellery store.
The accused had reportedly tipped the others about the jewellery worker’s travel plan and two others, Daniel and his wife, a law student, were also arrested.
The cops seized the car in which the accused were travelling in and recovered 246 grams of gold ornaments from Badrinath and 444 grams from the couple. A motorcycle was also seized.
