SIS Chief Sisira Mendis removed - President

President Maithripala Sirisena says the Chief of State Intelligence Service, Sisira Mendis, who recently made submissions before the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to probe the Easter Sunday Attacks, has been removed from his post.

The President made this revelation during a meeting with senior police officials held last evening.

The President said only officials who were dismissed by him from service, appeared before the Select Committee, adding Sisira Mendis has also been removed.

Sisira Mendis made a statement to the Parliamentary Select Committee on the first day it convened.
