Sanasa Bank, Association catches fire amidst financial fraud investigation

The Sanasa members had complained to the Cooperatives Commissioner regarding many financial fraud incidents at the Kalutara Isuru Uyana Sanasa Bank. Ironically, the building had caught fire yesterday (07) and many documents belonging to the Sanasa Bank had been destroyed in the fire including office equipment.

The fire had erupted early last morning and the residents had spotted smoke emanating from the Sanasa building and notified the Kalutara South Police.

However, it is of concern that this fire had erupted at a time when an investigation into financial fraud at the bank is currently ongoing. The Sanasa members are suspicious about this sudden fire as many complaints regarding fraudulent activities at the Sanasa bank had been reported.

The Kalutara South Police is conducting further investigations.
