3 nabbed over threatening prominent Buddhist monk

Dambulla police has arrested three suspects who had allegedly threatened and demanded an extortion of Rs. 100 million from the Trustee of Rangiri Dambulu Raja Maha Vihara - Ven. Ambagasweve Rahula Thero.

The suspects have been arrested after the Thero had lodged a complaint on this regard.

Police have also seized three phones used to threaten the monk.

The suspects, aged 19, 25 and 34 years, are residents of Dambulla, Inamaluwa and Kimbissa, police add.
