Youth poses inappropriately with sculptures in TN temple, held

The Tamilnadu police yesterday arrested a 22-year old man for posing inappropriately with sculptures at the Thanjavur Big Temple and later posting them on social media.

The arrested man has been identified as Mujibbur Rahman hailing from Othakadai near Madurai. The complaint was registered by a resident Rathinavelu who saw the pictures on social media and was shocked by the obscenity. The police subsequently traced the image to the mobile phone of the accused Rahman and arrested him from his his relative’s house and produced him before a court. He was remanded to judicial custody and lodged in the Central Prison on Sunday.

According to media reports, the police are investigating why the man chose to visit the 1,000 year old temple, where non-Hindus are not allowed.
