Police asked to expedite 4 murder investigations

The Attorney General has informed the Acting Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne and two other Senior Police Officers to promptly complete investigations into four controversial murders including journalist Lasantha Wickramatunge and ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen.
Police was requested to expedite investigations into the murder of 17 employees of a Non-Governmental Organisation in Muttur in 2006 and investigations into the disappearance and murder of 11 youth between the years 2008 and 2009.
It is said the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police and the Director of the Criminal Investigations Department were also advised to engage in efforts to promptly complete investigations.
The Attorney General also informed relevant officials to expedite investigations owing to the prevailing situation in the country.
