India-New Zealand encounter called off
New Zealand remains unbeaten at the Cricket World Cup after their clash with India was washed out in Nottingham today.
Persistent rain ruined any chance of play getting underway today at Trent Bridge. The abandoned result keeps the Black Caps top of the World Cup table and yet to lose at the tournament.
New Zealand began the World Cup with victories over Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, all whom they were warm favourites against.
India, the only other side yet to lose, loomed as a massive step up in quality and would have been New Zealand's toughest test thus far.
Both teams collect a competition point, which keeps them on track for the top four semifinals. The day match was abandoned at 3pm English time.
The wet English summer has proved disruptive in the early stages of the Cricket World Cup.This was the fourth match, where a result wasn't possible due to wet weather.
