No more ranks for Grade 5 & O/L exams

The government has decided to refrain from announcing rankings of the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and the Ordinary Level Examination henceforth.

Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam speaking at a function said recommendations in this regard will be sought following the appointment of a committee.

The Minister expressed the ranking had created an unnecessary competition amongst Grade 5 and Ordinary Level students.

Minister Kariyawasam added a committee had been appointed in order to introduce a system that will only reveal whether student had passed or failed the examination.
