Doctors’ all-India strike hits Tamilnadu government hospitals
The strike by doctors all over India, seeking a safer work environment, hit healthcare services today in Tamilnadu.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) had announced a couple of days ago a nationwide strike Monday, sympathising with the intern doctor who was attacked murderously in a West Bengal hospital, and seeking safety for doctors in general.
In Tamilnadu, doctors in government hospitals in various districts, including Chennai, Thanjavur and Madurai, are staging a sit-in. They are demanding talks in front of the media, it is said.
The IMA had said all non-essential services will be stopped and only emergency cases will be taken up. The apex body of doctors also said outpatient clinics would not function.
