War Criminal Shavendra to become Chief of Army for 4 months !

The President's Office sources report that the President has decided to appoint Major General Shavendra Silva as the Chief of Sri Lanka Army for a period of 4 months along with 6 months of service extension.

Major General Silva is to retire on 21 June as he reaches 55 years of age.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake is to retire on 18 August this year and following his retirement Major General Silva is to be appointed.

Similar process as the service extension given to Major General Sampath Fernando has been followed to provide a service extension to Shavendra Silva who will continue his service until 21 December following the extension.

The next in line for the position of Chief of Sri Lanka Army ,Major General Sathyapriya Liyanage is also to retire this year and if he was not given a service extension he will be retiring on 14 November.
