Minimum bus fare to be increased?

The All Ceylon Private Bus Company Federation has requested the minimum bus fare of Rs.12 to be increased to Rs.15.

When inquired by  Jaffnazone.com, Secretary of the Federation Anjana Priyanjith said the government was requested to amend the fares on the 1st of July, in line with the annual bus fare revision.

He noted the amendment is needed in order to recover the daily losses incurred by short-haul bus operators.

Meanwhile speaking to  Jafrfnazone,com  Chairman of the Private Bus Owners Association Gemunu Wijeratne said the faction had not requested any revision in bus fares.
