Railway strikes to continue every Friday?

The 48 hour railway strike launched by railway trade unions will end at midnight today.However the Railway Monitoring Operations Officials Alliance has decided to engage in an indefinite trade union action if their demands are not met during the course of next week.

Accordingly the trade unions have decided to engage in a 24 hour strike every Friday until the government provides solutions to their concerns.

Railway Drivers, Superintendents, Controllers and Station Masters are currently engaged in a 48 hour token strike over concerns surrounding the grading system.

Co Convenor of Railway Monitoring Operations Officials Alliance Lal Ariyaratne speaking to NewsRadio said all trade unions unanimously decided to continue trade union action if the government fails to address their concerns.
