Railway employees on strike to be arrested

State Minister of Transport Ashok Abeysinghe says steps will be taken to arrest those who initiate trade union action at a time that the railway service has been made an essential service.
Speaking to Jaffnazone.com reporter State Minister Abeysinghe said further legal action will be taken against such individuals based on a complaint lodged by the General Manager of the Department of Railways before the Fort Police.
The State Minister noted as Sri Lanka Railways is an essential service if strike actions continue, it will be considered as an offence punishable by the law.
He claimed that the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways also recorded a statement with Police over the matter.
