Man uses girl as bait, kills teen to end love triangle

A teenager was allegedly shot dead in New Delhi's Wazirpur at point-blank by a 22-year-old man on Wednesday. The 19-year-old man was killed as both the victim and the accused had allegedly fallen for the same girl.

A report in the Times of India stated that the girl was used as a bait to kill the victim, identified Ajay Kumar. The incident took place in a government school in the neighbourhood.

The family of the victim claimed that Ajay was shot dead, while the girl claimed that the victim was thrashed to death with an iron rod. The police are awaiting the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death.

The girl has been detained for questioning, while the accused, identified as Archit Chauhan, is still at large.

Police said that the victim lived with his maternal uncle in Wazirpur. Ajay was a school dropout and was reportedly interested in the Class 11 girl, who studied in the government school in the neighbourhood.

The accused also lived in the same village as Ajay.

On the day of the murder, the accused had asked the girl to call Ajay to the school. When Ajay reached, the girl was waiting along with the accused.

Soon after, an argument broke out between the two over the girl. After a brief altercation, Archit shot him in his forehead and fled the spot. The girl also left the spot and went home.
