Private member motion against death penalty

United National Party Parliamentarian Bandula Lal Bandarigoda says he has presented a draft bill, as a private member motion to abolish the death penalty.

Speaking at an event in Galewela the MP said condoning the death penalty is against his conscience. MP Bandarigoda noted Lord Buddha has not preached to kill sinners but to kill the sin.

The Parliamentarian stressed all factions should reconsider whether all those found guilty before Court are truly at fault and vice versa.
