100,000 tabs to be given out under 1st phase

Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says the 1st phase to distribute tablet computers for Advanced Level students will commence within two months.

Speaking at an event Minister Kariyawasam said the tablet computers will be distributed with the aim of exposing the country’s education sector to new advancements adapted by other countries.

The Minister noted under the 1st phase 100,000 tabs will be distributed free of charge for Advanced Level students and teachers of national schools within two months.

Minister Kariyawasam stressed criticism levelled against the move will not be a challenge to the government’s effort to provide the best education for children.
