Nine persons, who were on board a suspicious vessel in seas off the South of Galle, have been taken into the custody of the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Navy seized a trawler yesterday that was suspected to be transporting a stock of narcotics. The Navy said the nine persons on board the un-flagged vessel were not of Sri Lanka origin.

The Navy believes that four members of a vessel seized on Wednesday and the foreign vessel sized yesterday could be connected.
