Teachers to launch a strike on July 18 &19

The Sri Lanka Government Teachers Association has decided to launch a strike action on the 18th and 19th of July.

Speaking at a media breifing Secretary of the Association Shehan Dissanayake said the decision was reached based on four demands including a solution to the salary anomalies of teachers and principals.

Dissanayake said teachers attached to 10,000 schools across the island are expected to take part in the strike.

He noted the Education Ministry was officially informed of the trade union action.
