26 unions refuse to back teacher-principal sick note strike

Twenty-six teachers and principals associations have decided to refrain from supporting the sick note campaign due to be carried out by the Sri Lanka Government Teachers Associations on the 18th and 19th of this month.
The Ceylon Teachers Service Union said the strike will not be supported by trade unions representing a majority of teachers.
Speaking to JaffnaZone.com representatives of the Ceylon Teachers Service Union and the Lanka Teachers Association said the Sri Lanka Government Teachers Association did not hold any form of discussion over the strike action.
The representatives stated a majority of teachers and principals across the island will report to work on the said dates as per usual.
The Sri Lanka Government Teachers Association claimed that they will engage in a strike action on the 18th and 19th of July.
The decision was reached based on four demands including a solution to the salary anomalies of teachers and principals.
