Mahela to join India Team !
As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited fresh applications for the head coach and support staff of the cricket team, Indian media has reported that some of the candidates who are likely to apply for the post include Mahela Jayawardane as well.
“Some of the candidates who are likely to apply for the post of head coach are Gary Kirsten, Mahela Jayawardhene, Tom Moody and Virender Sehwag,” the Financial Express reported.
Jayawardene has guided IPL franchise Mumbai Indians to two championships in just 3 years, and also holds the head coach post of BPL franchise Khulna Titans as well.
Last month It was reported that the former Sri Lanka captain was in contention to coach Southern Brave in the new professional 100-ball cricket league run by the England and Wales Cricket Board which is set to commence in July 2020.
BCCI is seeking six professionals for the following positions and has released an eligibility criteria as well.
1) Head Coach
2) Batting Coach
3) Bowling Coach
4) Fielding Coach
5) Physiotherapist Strength and Conditioning Coach
6) Administrative Manager
7) Eligibility critetia for Head Coach –
* Should be a Head Coach of a full member Test Playing Nation for 2 years(min) Or Head Coach of an Associate member /IPL or Equivalent International Leagues/First Class Teams/ National A teams, for a minimum period of 3 years.
* Should have also played a minimum of 30 Test Matches or 50 ODIS or holding BCCI Level 3 Certification or equivalent.
The deadline for the submission of applications is 30th July 2019.
