'Sri Lanka Glory' runs aground in Rumassala

A cargo vessel named Sri Lankan Glory has run aground in Rumassala, Galle due to the rainy and windy weather condition.

Navy Media Spokesperson Lt. Commander Isuru Sooriyabandara noted that no casualties were reported.

The vessel, which had been anchored at the Galle harbour. However, the anchor had broken and the ship had floated towards the sea before running aground in the reefs below the 'Saama Chaithya' in Rumassala.

The Sri Lankan Navy had launched a mission to rescue nine crew members aboard the vessel and the rough seas and high winds had made the rescue mission a tough one.
