Saravana Bhavan owner’s last rites in Thoothukudi tomorrow

The body of P Rajagopal, owner of Saravana Bhavan chain of hotels, was handed over to his family today after post mortem was conducted at Government Stanley Hospital this morning.

According to sources, Ponneri Magistrate Sathish Kumar was present to complete the formalities and record the circumstances leading to his death yesterday morning at a private hospital in Vadapalani.

Dr Balasubramanian and four other doctors carried out the autopsy. By late evening, his body would be taken to his native place in Thoothukudi district, where his cremation would be held tomorrow.

Rajagopal, who ran one the largest chains of vegetarian hotels, was convicted by Supreme Court for the murder of Prince Santhakumar, husband of Jeevajothi whom Rajagopal wanted to marry as his third wife in 2001.
Jeevajothi is the daughter of one of his employees.
