Indictments filed against Aluthgamage & Fernando

Indictments were filed today at the Second Special High Court-at-Bar against former Minister of Sports and current Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage and the Former Chairman of Lanka Sathosa Nalin Fernando.

The charges were filed over the importation of sports equipment amounting to Rs.53.1 million through Sathosa for political purposes during the 2015 Presidential Election.

The suspects were released on a Rs.100,000 surety bail and two Rs.1 million surety bails each after being served indictments.

The case was heard before a three-member bench comprising judges R Dunusinghe, Shashi Mahendran and Amal Ranaraja.

The case will be taken up for hearing once again on the 30th of August.
