Chhattisgarh village holds funeral for beloved crocodile, 500 people attend

In your dose of bizarre news for the day, about 500 people in a small village in Chhattisgarh recently attended the last rites of their beloved, wait for it, crocodile.

Known as Gangaram, the three-metre-long reptile was about 130 years old and was buried in the village after his last rites were performed.

The incident took place in Bawamohatra, a village in Bemetra district of Chhattisgarh, where people gathered near the community pond and started weeping after they saw that the crocodile had died.

According to a daily, the post-mortem of the reptile was done in front of all the villagers.
