New newspaper to unveil docs proving Gota gave up US citizenship

All official documents issued by the US government, proving that former defence secretary - Gotabhaya Rajapaksa renounced his US citizenship, are to be publicised before Aug. 11, reports say.
A new newspaper affiliated to Mr. Rajapaksa is to unveil these documents during the first week of August, sources add.
Meanwhile, the 'Deshaya' newspaper quotes the opposition leader's office as to saying that the documents will be unveiled as a response to the rumours flying around with regard to Gotabhaya Rajapaksa renouncing his US citizenship.
Mr. Rajapaksa returned to Sri Lanka recently after a heart surgery in Singapore and it is said he has received doctors' orders to spend the next fortnight resting, without attending any political event.
6.5m votes for Gota
Meanwhile, speaking at an event in Kolonnawa yesterday (27), UPFA MP Ranjith Soyza had said that Gotabhaya would be officially named as the presidential candidate of the Joint opposition and the SLPP on August 11.
He has added that Mr. Rajapaksa would win the presidential election, securing 6.5 million votes.

However, several social media posts are making rounds, criticizing Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and Ranil Wickremesinghe, who are touted by many as possible presidential or prime ministerial candidates.
