Dewram Wehera chief prelate to be arrested?

The Attorney General has ordered the CID to arrest chief prelate of the Pannipitiya Dewram Wehera - Ven. Kolonnawe Sri Sumangala Thera.

The arrest is to be made over the illegal possession of an elephant at the Temple.

The AG directive had already reached the CID Director and the CID had given further details.

However, as the AG's stance had not changed, the CID is taking measures to arrest the Thera, reports add.

Meanwhile, a three-judge bench of the Colombo High Court had ordered to further remand 08 suspects including the infamous 'Ali Roshan', charged of trafficking of 05 elephants. The bench ordered to hold the suspects in remand custody until trial ends.
