Ancient panchaloha idol found in TN police station

A 3-feet tall, ancient panchaloha idol of Lord Vishnu was retrieved from a police station on Sunday.

A media report said, the idol was found packed in a polythene bag when cleaning the Mannargudi police station. The idol was later handed over to the jurisdictional tahsildhar.

Further investigations were on as to how the idol came to be in the station and why it was not handed over to a court or revenue officials.

It was not known immediately whether it was seized from any smuggler or dealer, revenue officials said.
