UNP & UNF to sign MoU on Monday

A Memorandum of Understanding between the United National Party, United National Front and several other political groups will be signed on Monday.

General Secretary of the UNP Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said the MoU will be signed at 9am on Monday at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Minister Kariyawasam said with the agreement of the constituent parties and the UNP Working Committee, the next Presidential and Prime Ministerial candidates will be named.

Speaking to media in Colombo, Minister Kariyawasam said following the announcement, a mass rally will be held at the Galleface green to kick-start the election campaign.

The Minister said following the formation of the UNP-led alliance several opposition heavyweights will also join the coalition.

Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam added, the Presidential Election is likely to be conducted ahead of the Provincial Council Elections.
