Fmr. NPC Secretary before Court today

Former Secretary of the National Police Commission, Saman Dissanayake, who was arrested and remanded on charges of incurring the state financial losses, by granting authorization to the Avant Garde corporation to maintain a floating armoury, during the previous tenure of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance government, is due to be produced before court once again today.

The suspect was not present at the previous hearing at the Galle Magistrates Court, owing to illness.

He was arrested and remanded while receiving treatment at the Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital, by the Gangodawila Acting Unofficial Magistrate Tissa Wijeratne, who visited the hospital to carry out orders issued by the Galle Magistrate's Court.

The Acting Magistrate also ruled that a medical report must be submitted regarding his health condition, if he fails to appear before court today as well.

Saman Dissanayake was arrested on the 18th of July, on directives issued by the Attorney General over the Avant Garde case.
