Snap LG election on the cards

The United National Party claims the impending Provincial Council elections and a snap Local Authorities election will follow the upcoming Presidential Polls.

Speaking during an event in Akmeemana, MP Wijepala Hettiarachchi said the UNP will hold power in all four legislative bodies.

The MP said the UNP is hoping to appoint a new President soon and take over the Parliament.

According to MP Hettiarachchi this will be followed by the Provincial Council elections and the dissolution of all local government bodies. He said the present administration will call for local authorities election under the preferential voting system to appoint new leaders.

He further said that this Ranil Wickremesinghe led government will forge ahead beyond the current term.

MP Wijepala Hettiarachchi claimed that although several persons have been nominated as potential presidential candidates, the opposition candidates have been implicated in murder, abduction and corruption cases.

He pointed out that his UNP-led administration will win the next Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
