UNP to continue talks on proposals for new alliance

General Secretary of the United National Party Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says the signing of the agreement to form an alliance with several parties led by the UNP was postponed as the new proposals made during discussions held so far must be discussed with all parties involved.

It was earlier planned to sign the agreement to form the new alliance tomorrow.

However an agreement was reached to postpone the process until a conclusion is reached following discussions regarding the broad alliance to be formed for democracy.

Issuing a notice Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said postponing the event till all concerns are addressed shows that democracy is maintained within the alliance.
