Person with red warrant tasked with Gota’s international campaign?

The security divisions have focussed attention on an event which was organised at the Dubai Redisson Blue Hotel seeking support for Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s election campaign, which was attended by former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga who has a red warrant issued against him over the MiG aircraft deal, it is reported.
According to police sources, it has been revealed that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s international election campaign has been handed over to Udayanga Weeratunga, which has attracted the attention of the security divisions.
Weeratunge was arrested at the Dubai Airport on February 04th but despite the FCID officials travelling to Dubai to have him extradited, they did not succeed.
Weeratunga faces allegations over the purchase of four MiG 27 aircrafts from a Ukrainian arms supply company in 2006 and he faces charges of having defrauded $ 7 million under the money laundering act. The courts had issued a red warrant for his arrest.
Meanwhile, the Eliya programme held in Dubai had also been attended by Ven. Medagoda Abhayatissa Thera, former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivad Cabraal and several others.
Media attention had been focussed on Udayanga and on the election campaign of presidential hopeful Gotabhaya Rajapaksa being handed over to this suspect with a red warrant against him.
There are several videos being circulated over the internet showing Udayanga Weeratunga, a wanted suspect in the MiG deal, roaming freely in Dubai.
