Industries Minister inaugurates feeder services at Nandanam Metro station
State Industries Minister M C Sampath inaugurated the feeder services and electric vehicles charging facilities at Nandanam Metro Station, Monday in the presence of CMRL managing director Pankaj Kumar Bansal.
The Phase I of Chennai Metro Rail Project covering a total distance of 45 km with two corridors, has been fully commissioned from 10 February this year.
CMRL has tied up with M/s. Bengaluru Megacabs Private Limited for provision of feeder services at operational stations through an app based system developed by Ford Mobility. The proposed feeder operation route covers a distance of 6-8 km from each of the stations, and it would collect passengers from Metro station and drop them at their respective destinations at flat fare of Rs 10. The ticketing collection system for this service is also integrated with Chennai Metro Smart Card system and Chennai Metro Rail mobile app system.
In the first stage, it is proposed to operate in Chennai Central, Government Estate, LIC, Thousand Lights, AG-DMS and Nandanam, a press release said.
In order to promote green transport in Chennai city, CMRL joined hands with Energy Efficiency Services Limited, a Government of India enterprise and plans to install EV chargers in 26 metro stations. To start with, EV charger facility for cars, two and three wheelers has been inaugurated by the Industries Minister at Nandanam Metro Station.
