Suspicious parcel causes tense situation at Welikada prison

A tense situation was reported within the Colombo Magazine Prison in Welikada after a parcel, suspected to be a bomb, was thrown over the prison wall into the premises.

Senior Prison officer said that Borella Police had been informed of the incident, following which the Bomb Disposal Squad had arrived at the location to inspect the parcel.

Upon inspection by the Bomb Disposal Squad, stocks of heroin and ice, a mobile phone and charger that were well concealed were recovered from the parcel, he added.
