Rishad's threatening a doctor goes to prison tribunal
The incident related to Parliamentarian Rishad Bathiudeen allegedly threatening a Prison doctor is expected to be directed to a Prison tribunal.
Prisons Media Spokesman Commissioner Chandana Ekanayake said legal proceedings will be headed by a Magistrate.
The Prisons Commissioner said an initial investigation was conducted pertaining to MP Bathiudeen levelling death threats, humiliating and obstructing duties of a prison doctor at the Magazine Prison, under the supervision of an Assistant Superintendent of Prison.
Ekanayake said under the Prisons Ordinance, an individual who commits an offence within the prison can be presented before a Prison tribunal.
He added therefore based on the report, the matter will be directed to a Prison tribunal, to reach an independent decision.
