For the first time, the Army has been given full authorization to administer the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine, reports say

 It is said that the measure has been taken after several incidents where the vaccine was administered without transparency, came into the limelight. Also the details of such persons who had received the vaccine had not been documented.

 Such an incident was reported from Kokkavil, Chilaw where the vaccine was given to outsiders by health officials in the Puttalam district.

 Army Commander General Shavendra Silva has said that from now on, the Pfizer vaccine will be given to the relevant persons under the leadership of the Army.

 The Pfizer vaccine will not be given to any person who is not qualified to receive the vaccine outside the proper procedure, he had added.
