Police attack civilians waiting at the vaccination centre leaving them

A video of a policeman randomly striking civilians leaving a vaccination programme had sparked ire on social media.

The incident had taken at taken place at the vaccination centre in Arafa Collage, Weligama yesterday (01).

A large number of civilians had arrived to be vaccinated but the stocks had run out mid-programme.

Despite being notified of this, civilians had remained without leaving the premises and the authorities had summoned the police.

Three policemen including the Weligama HQI were caught on camera, while several civilians already dispersing were randomly hit with a police baton as they passed by.
