900 complaints of Facebook reported to Computers Crimes Division

The Computer Crimes Division of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has received over 3,000 complaints of computer crimes including publishing pornographic videos, photographs and sexual crimes.

Sources said that the controversial sexual abuse of the 15 year old girl, and the Pahanthudawa incident are among them and that nearly 70 suspects have been arrested in regard to these complaints. 

The highest number of complaints, 900, are regarding Facebook harassment.
 
Around 700 complaints have been received regarding Facebook hacking, and maintaining fake profiles. 

Money scams too are among the complaints, including the infamous Nigerian online money scams. 

The Computer Crime Division was established at the CID about four months ago.
