Rupee depreciates 6.8% against the US dollar

Rupee depreciates 6.8% against the US dollar

The Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR) depreciated 6.8% against the US dollar in 2021, in the period of January to 10 September.

The rupee depreciated 2.6% against the US dollar last year (2020).

The Central Bank Economic Research Unit stated that, in the period up to 10 September 2021, the Sri Lanka Rupee has depreciated against the Euro, Sterling Pound, Japanese Yen, Australian Dollar, and Indian Rupee. 
 
Accordingly, the Sri Lanka rupee has depreciated 3% against the Euro, 8.2% against the Sterling Pound, 0.8% against the Japanese Yen, 2.7% the Australian Dollar, and 6.3% against the Indian Rupee.
