Opposition Leaders office will resolve public concerns – MR

Leader of the Opposition Mahinda Rajapaksa says solutions will be provided to issues faced by the country’s people through the Office of the Opposition Leader.

Speaking to media after assuming duties Parliamentarian Rajapaksa said all necessary steps will be taken for the benefit of the public.

The Opposition Leader said the Office of the Opposition Leader will intervene and speak of grievances of the public in every Province.

He stated concerns faced by Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim and all other citizens will be looked into, adding they will intervene and assess issues the public has faced.

The Opposition Leader also charged that the government has failed at addressing the grievances of the masses.

He stated issues faced by those engaged in the agriculture trade have not been addressed in an acceptable manner.

Mahinda Rajapaksa also noted the fall army worm problem will be addressed, adding they will rally together all forces against this government and do the utmost.

Meanwhile speaking at a media breifing at the office subsequent to the function today, United People’s Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian Udaya Gammanpila challenged the government to appoint Non Cabinet Ministers and Deputy Ministers for ministries that are yet to be filed.

The MP said 13 Deputy Ministers and non Cabinet Ministers are not being appointed, adding as soon as these 13 are appointed; there are 20 others who will oppose the government over the possibility of them losing their posts.

He said the group challenges the government to fill all vacant Cabinet posts, further remarking when this does happen the Cabinet will drop from 88 to 68.
